Original galley kitchen above was small, cramped and non-functional for the new homeowners. The wall on which the stove and refrigerator were located separated the kitchen from the rest of the house so the cook was essentially cut off from guests.

HOMEOWNERS OBJECTIVES:
  • To have an open, functional kitchen
  • Be able to entertain guests while preparing meals or snacks -More cabinet space -More counter space
  • To have a buffet with cabinets to act as both a display for china, storage and a serving area for entertaining

  •  The wall to the hallway was closed off to allow for better traffic flow and more cabinetry. Lighting was addressed by adding both under the cabinet task lighting as well as lighting above the cabinets for ambiance. The flow and continuity tie into the great room/dining room as the cabinetry extends into that space. The new space offers the open feel the homeowners desired and is the perfect space to entertain guests.
